WITNESS NEEDING A FULL STORY

Heard of the “Green Ping Pong Ball” story?  It’s a long story, with a frustrating end. You’ll never knew why the character needed “a Green Ping Pong Ball”.

Today’s story is about a Roman Commander who needed to know the full story.  It was not frustration he had to overcome; he didn’t want to make a grievous mistake.  A Witness needing a Full Story.

READING ACTS 22

REFLECTION

1. Acts 22:2. In what language did Paul address the people, and what was the effect? Why?

2. Acts 22:4.  What did Paul mean by " I persecuted this Way"? How are the people of “the Way” still persecuted? (give examples)

3. Acts 22:22-29. How did the people react to Paul’s testimony?  And how did the Commander & the Centurion react to Paul?  Why?

4. Acts 22:30.  Why do you think the Commander wanted to know the reason for charges against Paul? 

5. Like the Bereans in Acts 17, what was the Commander doing?  What can we learn from the Bereans and the Commander, regarding information we receive?

CONTEMPLATION

With a large resource of Christian content in the social media today, getting a full and complete picture is important for believers.  Like the Commander (and the Bereans), it helps us to gain a better understanding – to divide between fact from fiction (heresy).  Don’t just accept everything you hear or read.  Dig into God’s Word and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.  Discuss with other believers for clarity.

A small assignment for you. Read aloud Acts 22:3-21. It took less than 5 minutes for Paul to share the Gospel through his testimony.  Write your 5-minute testimony and share it with a friend.  See how God can use your story to touch lives.
